Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi shows he’s ready for La Liga restart with impressive training run

Things may be far from normal in the world of sports, but one thing has remained constant: Lionel Messi is ready to play. As Barcelona and other La Liga clubs begin training in groups of 10-14 players with contact this week, Messi showed he’s happy to be back on the pitch.

While some teams and players may need a bit of game action to get back into the swing of things, Messi looks ready to go a full 90 minutes right now. Barca posted the following video on social media showing Messi pull off a fine tackle to recover the ball before finishing off the play with a goal where he teased the Barca defense and goalkeeper.

Take a look at the effort on both ends by the superstar attacker:

That’s a good sign for Barca and gives everyone a bit of hope of La Liga fully returning soon. Messi has a different hairstyle (don’t we all after quarantine?) and looks rejuvenated during a time which would usually mark the end of the season. It almost felt like we were looking at Messi from his early years at Barcelona.

Earlier in the week, the Spanish government gave La Liga permission to return the week of June 8, and La Liga president Javier Tebas picked June 11 or 12 as the target date for the season to resume.

This season, Messi has 19 goals in 22 league games while having 24 goals in 31 matches on the season. Barcelona is in first place in the league while also in the Champions League round of 16.
