Tony Romo to interview Daniel Jones, Josh Allen, Sam Darnold on CBS special ‘In The Huddle With Tony Romo’

NFL fans anxiously await the start of the 2020 football season and CBS Sports lead game analyst Tony Romo will help fill the void. CBS will air a special featuring the former Cowboys star quarterback interviewing three of the game’s top young quarterbacks: Sam Darnold (New York Jets), Daniel Jones (New York Giants) and Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills) on Memorial Day weekend. The show will be hosted by CBS Sports lead reporter Tracy Wolfson and the 30-minute special will air on Sunday, May 24 at 2:00 p.m ET.

The special, “In The Huddle With Tony Romo,” will feature Romo talking with the three young quarterbacks about the X’s and O’s of the position, the difficulties of preparing for next season in a “virtual off-season” setting, making the leap from being a first-year quarterback to the second year, and second-year to the third, as well as show a different side of their lives on and off-the-field as an NFL quarterback.

Allen has been the most successful of the three quarterbacks to date. Drafted No. 7 overall by the Bills in 2018, Allen led the Bills to the playoffs in just his second season. He started all 16 games in 2019, completing 58.8% of his passes for 3,089 yards, 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions (85.3 rating) while rushing for 510 yards and nine touchdowns (4.7 yards per carry).

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 draft, Darnold compiled a winning record with the Jets in his second season, throwing for 3,024 yards (61.9% completion rate), 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions (84.3 rating) in just 13 games. The Jets were 7-6 in his starts.

Jones was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 draft and his rookie season he finished with 3,027 passing yards (61.9% completion rate), 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions (87.7 rating). He set the Giants rookie record for completion percentage (min. 250 attempts), passing yards and touchdowns in a rookie season. Jones took over the starting job from long-tenured and two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning in Week 3.

CBS Sports, along with Romo and the three players, will also assist in the NFL’s COVID-19 relief efforts to support the American Red Cross, CDC Foundation, Feeding America, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army and United Way.
