Yankee Stadium to hold drive-in events with movies, concerts, car side food delivery this summer

New Yorkers aren’t able to gather for summer festivals, concerts, games and other events like they are used to, with strict social distance guidelines still in effect because of the coronavirus, but Yankee Stadium is providing the next best thing. Places are getting creative with ways to give people something to do outside of their homes, while still adhering to best health practices and keeping everyone safe.

This summer, the Uptown Drive-In will set up shop at Yankee Stadium, providing residents with a drive-in movie, live-music concert and car-side dinner.

It’s a way to give people some of the big events they’ve been missing, while still following all state guidelines and all done with the backdrop of the stadium.

It is currently planned for every weekend starting in July, with limited tickets, all sold online.

The concert portion will feature New York City performers while the dinner service will be food from some of the famous street vendors of the city. Those in attendance will get the sights, sounds and tastes of the area, all while remaining in their vehicle.

There will also be live interactive games, raffles and giveaways. The nights will be tailored to different audiences, with date-night on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and a family-friendly brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

MASC Hospitality is working to help bring the idea to life, and announced in an interview with Time Out New York that the pricing is not yet known, but they are working with city and state officials as well as sponsors to make it as affordable as possible. They will also be working with the sponsors to raffle off free tickets.

It will be a while before sports fans get to see the Yankees and Aaron Judge homer live at the stadium, but for now they can at least head to the spot for other entertainment.
